Everyone wants to look good, nothing wrong with that. What happens though with the obsession of looking good? There must be
something wrong if someone’s value depends how they look. If someone’s value comes from their body then their esteem is going to be pretty low even if they are fit because:
- our body is only a small part of us. We have a soul and a spirit with emotions and feelings that may be low even when the body is good.
- idolising the body is like every other type of idol: worthless, fake and empty.
- there will always be some one even fitter.
Well the problem is that in this society we put too much value on the body or at least on what people see. God is different because although we look at the outside, He looks at the heart. Basically spiritual beauty by having the qualities described here (the ‘light’ section) is more important than physical beauty. You’ve probably noticed that while someone’s got money and good looks they’ve got lots of friends. Basically we want to be with people that give us something we want. God is different because He doesn’t stick around because he wants something from us but he wants to give a lot to us.
