First of all too much of anything is harmful, even of good things.

Drink is like a fire escape door to some deep water when you don’t know how to swim. It doesn’t start that way of course. First of all it’s weekend business. Sometimes it gets a bit more than this and seems to be a bit more than just fun. Maybe you still keep it under control coz no one wants to be a drunken lout but on the right in white are some warning signs to watch out for. If these warning signs are you then it looks like you are getting addicted and drink is a kind of drug so please read on.

Drugs damage the body and are sometimes used to escape reality. If you can’t face reality it’s a sign that you don’t have God’s peace. Also getting high might be ok but what about ‘going low again’? You can’t stay high unless you take more and this then leads to addiction or heavier stuff which obviously isn’t good. Obviously there are different levels of addiction and strength of drugs. There are a few webpages that might be helpful to do with drugs/drink:

Other times addiction just happens, it starts small but grows and before you know it you’re hooked and don’t know how to get out. We may never have been addicted to class A drugs but we know what it is to be addicted to being number 1, to being selfish, to jealousy, to relationships, to money and much more. All of these things give incredible highs at times but after some time are damaging and are wrong from the beginning. This website offers some answers to the sin of addiction on the homepage and in problems. Also Russell’s story talks about how he got off drugs.
